The Kane Chronicles (Series Review)

My first ever book review and it's for one of my favorite series I'm so glad. We'll see how this goes, I've never really done one of these before, but I plan to more often in the future.

(and yes, Emma, I will be copying your layout for reviews until I find my own rhythm xD)

Let's just jump right in, shall we?

"And frankly, the fact that everyone kept telling me it was a bad idea - Bast, Horus, even Sadie - made me more certain it was the right thing to do." ~ The Throne of Fire

The Kane Chronicles (trilogy)

Genre: I guess contemporary fantasy? Idk, I've just come to call it 'Rick Riordan' xD
Author: Rick Riordan
Content: A few kisses here and there, quite a bit of action.
Main characters: Carter and Sadie Kane

Brief overview
Carter and Sadie Kane, siblings who were separated when they were small, have their lives dramatically changed when their father unleashes the ancient Egyptian gods back into the world.  Together, they battle monsters, host gods, and save the world... multiple times.

Series Layout
Book 1: The Red Pyramid - Carter and Sadie face Set, the god of evil, while dealing with the gods they're hosting and trying to find their dad.

Book 2: The Throne of Fire - Carter and Sadie decide that the best way to defeat the rising threat of Apophis is to awaken the sun god Ra, who disappeared years ago and hasn't been seen since. This leads them deep into the Duat, where they follow Ra's nightly journey.

Book 3: The Serpent's Shadow - Apophis is rising, one of their friends is dying, and the Kanes have to save the world... again.

What I Thought

This series does not get enough love. Seriously. Everyone loves to talk about PJO (and don't get me wrong, I do too), but no one talks about TKC. THESE GUYS DESERVE ALL THE LOVE, OKAY? I love the sibling relationship, which I personally think is one of the most accurate in fiction today. So great. Ugh, I love it.

Characters
Carter Kane - probably the Rick Riordan character I relate most to. He's been travelling his whole life with his archeologist father, so he's been homeschooled and never really learned to be all that social. He knows tons of stuff. Percy said "You and Annabeth would get along great." when they met up in The Son of Sobek.

Sadie Kane - Carter's younger sister. She's lived with her grandparents in London since she was six and their mother died. She slightly resented Carter for getting to travel with their father, but she's gotten over it. Super sassy, has no patience for anyone, but really cares for Carter.

Zia Rashid - She's... hard to explain without spoiling anything. Let's just say she's not who you initially think she is. But she's still super kick-butt awesome.

Bast - The goddess of cats, who used to be disguised as Sadie's cat Muffin. She's so cool. I don't even like cats, but I would love to meet Bast.

Walt Stone - Introduced in book 2, Walt is one of the Kane's recruits at Brooklyn House. He's so sweet and I love him a lot.

There are, of course, others, but these are the main players.

The interesting thing about this series in comparison to Percy Jackson is that the characters aren't children of the gods, they are magicians that can host gods. Even though that's against the rules. So of course our characters do it.

I want to visit Brooklyn House. Please.

(also did anyone notice the 'Manhattan has it's own problems' line? I laughed)

Overall rating:
5 magic staffs out of 5

I just finished these but I already feel like I need to reread them. Hehe.
