Nowhere to Be Found {book review}

Okay storytime:

I've worked in our church library for... a long time now.  I've lost track of the years, but it's been something like four?  Five?  I really don't know.  But my sister and I have been taking over more recently, as the main librarian has been having some health issues, and we're young and spry and all that good stuff.  So when books get donated, I'm the designated "checker-of-the-books", meaning that I take them home, read them, and decide if they're clean enough to put into the system.  A good chunk of this series was donated, so I nabbed this first one to read.

It's definitely going in.

Nowhere to Be Found

18167083
(this cover is so cute, right?)

Genre: Christian Contemporary
Author: Kristin Eckhardt (writing as Emily Thomas)
Content: None
Main Character: Anne Gibson

Brief Overview: After losing her husband three years ago, Anne inherits a beautiful Victorian mansion in the small town of Blue Hill, Pennsylvania.  In following her great-aunt's wishes to convert the house into a public library, Anne stumbles upon a mystery that won't leave her be until she's solved it.

Placement in Series: 1 of 24 (according to Goodreads... but idk)

What I Thought:

I described this book in my Goodreads review as feeling like a Hallmark movie but without as much romance.  That's exactly what it felt like.  Fluffy, feel-good, with life lessons along the way and a clean, murder-free mystery that really kept me guessing until the end.  What more could you ask for?

The Characters:
Anne - SO. RELATABLE.  She's a book nerd, gets super excited about the prospect of a mystery, and loves her kids with all her heart.  I love her a lot and you probably will too.

Alex - We don't really see all that much of Alex in this book, but I'm guessing he probably plays a more prominent role in stories to come.  But I like him well enough.  His relationship with Ryan is really sweet.

I'm not sure who else to talk about, but overall it's a very loveable cast of characters that give me a very "Murder, She Wrote" feel as far as the small town friendships go.

Favorite Quote:
She might not be able to unpack all the books before the rooms were painted, but she could always take them out of the box just long enough to look at them.
(see what I mean?  so relatable.)

Will I Keep Reading?
Oh yes.

Overall Rating: 4.5 cookies out of 5 (there are so many cookies in this book, seriously, it made me hungry)

If you're a book nerd or a mystery lover, you'll probably enjoy this book.  And that's about all there is to it.

  1. Hey, Abigail! xD That's so neat that one, you have a church library (ours doesn't by any means which is a bit sad) and you get to proofread whether books are clean or not. That's such a neat job! I love mysteries. <3 I usually don't read Christian novels (because choosing which ones to read out of the ones available in our town's small bookstore are by shish kebabs so hard to do) but I want to see if I can download this onto my Kindle somehow. Hmm...
