The 2020 Diaries (what I've been up to pt. 2)

The funny thing about hiatuses on this blog is that I never mean to take them, it just... happens.  It's been almost 2 months since I posted last.  Sorry about that.  Today, I'm here to catch you up.

Like many of my fellow humans, 2020 has been a whirlwind of a year.  Adding to the pressure is a massive life change in which my grandmother sold her house and moved into an apartment while we try and find a house for all of us to live in.  It's just been...  a lot... *burrows beneath pillows* I'm fine.

No seriously, I'm doing okay.  Although, apparently, since I blogged last I've just... lost the ability to use gifs?  Idk what's going on with Blogger but hopefully it rights itself soon.

In the meantime, let's take a look at what's been up since we last spoke.

  • I re-read The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton, and it's been confirmed as one of my favorite books of all time.  Seriously.  This book is so good.

  • I binged all 7 seasons of New Girl, which I absolutely loved.  I can't recommend it to everyone because the writers decide to go back to sex waaaaay too much, but I haven't laughed so hard at a show in a long time.  I am simultaneously Nick, Jess, and Winston always.

  • For my birthday, the thing I wanted most was to go to the local library.  The week of my b-day was also the week of my grandmother's house closing, which meant I didn't get any sort of celebration outside of going to the library, renewing my card, and wandering the aisles to bring home a stack of books I probably won't have time to read.  But the JOY I felt was... a little ridiculous, if I'm being honest with myself.  I felt like my 10-year-old self again and it was delightful.

  • Speaking of the library, while I was there I picked up The Ghosts of Tupelo Landing by Sheila Turnage, which is the second Mo and Dale mystery.  And if you're in the market for the most wholesome ghost story you'll ever read, look no further.  I adore this series so much, it made me laugh out loud several times, and I can't wait to read the next two books.

  • As previously mentioned, my family is trying to find a house.  The good news is that, as of when I'm writing this, we've found one!  And while nothing's set in stone yet, there's a good chance we'll be moving again in the next month or so (which is like... not fun.  but we're all so ready to be in our forever home that it's okay)

  • I've spend the last few months working on a very exciting, very Christmas-y story that I'm calling Silver Nights, that will be coming to the blog this December!  I can't wait to share Sam and Lucy's story with y'all - it's a Hallmark-style love story that's completely self-indulgent and very fluffy.  It's exactly what I've needed, tbh.  (And don't worry, Bonnie and Clyde are still around.  They're getting jealous and want me to spend more time with them.  Which I will, as soon as I'm done with this xD)

And I think that's most of the big things!  Blogging fell to the wayside, and for that I apologize.  I've been in a weird mental space, as most of us probably are, and it was just the first thing to go.  But! Hopefully, I can get back into a rhythm of actually posting again.  I've got some books to review and some tags to do and anything is possible.

Okay that's all for now.  See ya soon, hopefully.
