I really need to break it.
I have a tendency to read AMAZING books that have sequels.
I love the books.
But do I read the sequels?
No, but I really need to.
And so today, we're going to take a look at 11 sequels that I really, really need to read. And soon.
(and honestly, the saddest part is that I own 7 out of the 11. So I really have no excuse.)
1. Disney at Dawn ~ Ridley Pearson

Series: Kingdom Keepers
Reason I haven't read it yet: Distraction
Notes: I reread the first one specifically so that I could read this. So why haven't I read it yet? (I mean... I'm 82 pages in... but does that really count?)
2. Lightning ~ Bonnie S. Calhoun

Series: The Stone Braide Chronicles
Reason I haven't read it yet: Need to reread the first one / Haven't had time yet
Notes: The first book in this series was one of the first I read in 2016, and was one of my favorites last year. I've had my eye on this one since then, and just recently, it and the third book, Storm, went on sale, and I snatched them both up. I'm really excited to get back into this world and see what happens next. (Also, that cover is so intriguing o.o)
3. Smek for President! ~ Adam Rex

Series: Smek
Reason I haven't read it yet: I don't own it... yet
Notes: I absolutely adored the first book in this series, and I just haven't had the chance to order this one from the library yet and devour it because I'm sure I will love it because the reviews are great AHH I'M SO EXCITED.
4. Guardian ~ Heather Burch

(I know... that cover... *winces* [although that jacket is fab I would totally wear that])
Series: Halflings
Reason I haven't read it yet: Need to reread the first one / E-book slump
Notes: I read the first one to this series almost two years ago, loved it, and bought the other two... but did I read them? No, of course not. Because right after I purchased them, I went into a major e-book slump. It was like a reading slump, but strictly with e-books. I just could not read an e-book. I don't know why. It was an issue. I think I'm past it now, so I just need to reread the first one, and I'll be good to go.
5. Exile ~ Shannon Messenger

Series: Keeper of the Lost Cities
Reason I haven't read it yet: I don't own it
Notes: I absolutely loved the first one in this series. So much that I wrote a review here on this blog! I need to just buckle down and order this from the library and read it and love it. I need to.
6. The Calling ~ Rachelle Dekker

Series: Seer
Reason I haven't read it yet: Need to reread the first one
Notes: I loved the first book. I waited too long to pick up the second one. I haven't had time to pick up the first one again yet. Really excited for this one. Simple as that.
7. More Than a Skeleton ~ Paul L. Maier

Series: Jonathan Weber
Reason I haven't read it yet: I don't own it
Notes: I liked the first book, and this one sounds fascinating. Our church library has it (which is where I got my hands on the first one), so I'm hopefully going to pick this up soon.
8: Cinderella's Shoes ~ Shonna Slayton

Series: Cinderella's Dress
Reason I haven't read it yet: E-book slump
Notes: The first one was really fun, and I just need to buckle down and read this one because I'm sure I'll love it.
9. The Whisper ~ Emma Clayton

Series: The Roar
Reason I haven't read it yet: I don't own it
Notes: I really enjoyed the first book, and I need to get to this one before I forget everything that happened, lol.
10. Scarlet ~ Marissa Meyer

Series: The Lunar Chronicles
Reason I haven't read it yet: E-book slump
Notes: I absolutely loved Cinder, but the e-book slump hit right after I bought this and Cress. But I fully intend to get back into this series and back with these characters very soon.
11. A Time to Speak ~ Nadine Brandes

Series: Out of Time
Reason I haven't read it yet: Haven't technically finished the first book yet....
Notes: Okay, so I'm currently reading A Time to Die and I'm LOVING IT IT'S SO GOOD. And as I already own this one (it's currently watching me from my bookshelf... don't worry, book, I'll be there soon), I'm sure I'll dive straight into this as soon as I surface from the last one.
So that's the list!
What are some sequels that you need to read? Do you feel the same shame I do when you don't get to them as quickly as you might like? Let me know in the comments below!
~ Abby
A TIME TO SPEAK. YES. YOU WILL LOVE IT. And The Calling is pretty good also- much better than The Choosing I think. *nods* (I still haven't read the third one yet so no comment there hehe)
